Hello all,
I have just installed a second battery on my Azure 188 with 4.3 Volvo GXi. I used a guest 2110A switch with afd. I have run battery 1 positive to batt1, battery 2 positive to batt 2, and common to the starter. I have run the ground from both batteries to the same mounting point on the engine block. The accessory + I have connected to the common on the switch, and the accessory negatives I left connected to battery 1. I use only battery 1, but wanted to have a second battery just in case I ran it dead some time.
The issue I am having - when the switch is on battery 1 or 2, or both, my rpm guage reads 1500 at idle where is would normally read about 700 and shows well over 6000 at WOT(where I know it is normally 4600). In addition, if I switch to only battery 2 - the trim indicator also acts strangely - rather than being very smooth, it is extremely jumpy when I change the trim.
When on the water, I completely disconnected the cables from battery 2, and everything went back to normal - both rpm and trim gauges.
I am at my wits end right now, and would gladly order one of the "add a battery" or bep vsr units if I new they would fix the problem.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks
