HELP PLEASE KEEP LOSING PRIME 225hp

1997 225 hp evinrude I have to pump ball to keep engine running and prevent engine light from going on. We replaced all filters and insalled new gas pump. what else can be checked. there is a hose from engine I think provides pressure to pump what is the procedure to check this. Can low compression in head cause this problem Im confused HELPPP????

Check for air leaks in the entire fuel system. Check that hose for tightness, too. If it's leaking, the pump won't work properly.

Check your pickup at the gas tank it may be plugged. Is the primer bulb getting sucked flat? Be careful on running the motor to long, if it is running lean you can do some major damage to the powerhead.

If you have a tempo bulb even if its brand new ,get rid of it and use any engine manufacturers bulb.

pick up tube checked and it is clear run motor on land and kept pumping ball and it seemed fine but when I stopped check engine light came on and horn???? Is it possible new pump could be defective.????Ball doesnt go flat but needs to be pumped I can see fuel in filter at motor and fuel doesnt stay filled in filter ?????
