a contenuity check is useless on something that carries that much current. A voltage drop test, which should have been done before you replaced the starter, is much more accurate in telling you what's going on inside of the cables.

i check the voltage at the starter when testing, it was at around 12.6 with nothing going on, and when the starter was engage it dropped to 11.9 at the lowest. and that is with the volts meter leads on the starter itself, the postive clipped to the main postive line and the neg hooked to the chassis of the starter.

Thanks everyone for help, i guess it was just cheap starters, learned my lesson. but she started right up and runs good. One more questions, it has a alpha one on the back. Just to be clean, it basically has 2 water pumps right? one in the foot, and one in the motor itself. sorry new to I/O have only had outboards.

thats correct , one to pick up lake water and deliver it to the engine and one to circulate that water through all the water passages in the engine ..
glad to hear your problem is fixed ... i hate aftermarket junk ..
