help! Ran out of filler!

I dont want this weekend to go to waste, but I'm parylized without filler. Does anyone know if there's some sort of commonly available product I could substitute to thicken and strengthen my epoxy resin? I've been using wood flour. I wonder of I could augment what wood flour I have left with sawdust or something. Or maybe something available at a hardware store or Home Depot or something?

Call around and ask your buddies if they know where you can find someone that does bead blasting.<br />Its little glass beads for cleaning up soft medal and hard medal. <br />Works great!!!!

normal sawdust will not work. makes it too lumpy and hard to work. most all of your marine stores will have cabosil or equiv. you should have one of the big names near you ie boaters world, west marine, fishermans supply etc.

If you wanted strengh fiberglass filler is a lot stronger than wood flour. Should be able to get anything in Chicago!!!

Go borrow or rent a beltsander with a 100 grit belt and find a dry board that's been in the garage for a while and make your own. Don't use pine or fir cause of the sap...Chief

yeah, during the week, you're probably right, realgun. But on a saturday it might be tough.<br /><br />I think the wood flour will be plenty strong for my application, given the fact that there's 2 layers of tape and 2 layers of cloth going over it.<br /><br />I'll see if I can find some blasting beads somewhere.

talc.. as in talcum power.. <br /><br />was the poop before the exotic fillers came about..

no kiddin? well hell, I got a huge thing of that right here! heh, I bet my boat's gonna smell great!<br /><br />edit: damn crabby, lots of places still offer talc as a filler. this one site says its an excellent filler to add body to resin but will add more weight than other products. I dont care about the weight, I just have to fill some screw holes and a 4 foot seam.

Talcum was used by the old times,I ran into one of those times were I couldn't get beads and was told to use talcum power,work great,just cost more.When you need,you need!Oh,its got to be talcum,not just any baby powder!
