help reinstalling steering cable

My son was given a 1965 18' Glasston boat with a Johnson 60hp motor. The steering cable is missing. The man who owned the boat before said it was one jacketed cable (1/8") that was ran through a hole on a drum behind the steering wheel. How many wraps of cable around the drum behind the steering wheel is there suppose to be?

the directions that were the original directions, the guy kept. said 4 wraps, each direction. send me a PM, with your email, i will scan for you. got 3/16 cable at Lowes, 50' pack for $17.00 and took most of it for a 14', so you would need all of it.
