I need help removing my old outdrive up to the bellhousing, not sure where to start. Any help or links to repair manuals would be greatly appreciated.

What are you trying to do? You many not need to remove the complete drive.

Re: Help removing 280 outdrive.

I bought a good used Sx and transom adapter, sold the entire 280 assembly on ebay. Just didn't want to start taking pieces off that didn't need to be removed. I've removed all the lines for the trim, throttle, exhaust, steering etc.

Re: Help removing 280 outdrive.

Get a manual but the short version is:

Remove shift cover
Disconnect shift linkage.
Remove steering helmet bolt(s)
Loosen all Bellows clamps and hose clamps and work free of outdrive
- u joint bellows, exhaust bellows, water intake hose
Support outdrive.
Remove hinge pin bolts
Drive pins out. EDIT: it you have a 280T, (with trim and not just tilt) you need to pull the pins out with the correct size bolt and a slide hammer.
Pull outdrive free.

Removing the transom shield is pretty evident.
