Help restoring color to a faded steering wheel

I'm putting my boat together and will be doing the first splashdown this next week on Friday! I've put a lot of work into building a new transom, replacing the floor, new interior and seets, and all new electrical and controls.

Final assembly is happening tomorrow so I need some help with restoring the color to my steering wheel. It has faded to grey badly from sitting so long before I got it. There isn't anything wrong with it so I'm not going to spend any money on replacing it. In fact, I have a 2-tone grey interior as it is and I'll run it the way it is if there isn't something that will fix it.

Is there a rubbing compound to use?

The only thing that comes to mind from me is that stuff yoiu can buy at an auto parts store, that fixes scratches. I've got a bottle of black color in the garage, BUT, it will get on your hands while putting it on, and is hard to get off. Might think about that.

What is it made of? Plastic?

What about fusion paint or VHT vinyl spray?

Great question. Would be nice to know before responding with a suggestion.

Yes, steering wheel is rubberized plastic:

You can see how the center plastic ring is still black!
