On vacation and after fill up, motor started running rough. Just got boat used 3 weeks ago. Had loss of power. Died. Got it restarted ran rough. Got it into Marina with no mechanic in the middle of no where. Pulled the fuel/water separator, dumped it into a container, not 1drop of water. Oil is fine. Took off flame arrestor, was filthy. Left off, restarted. As soon as I touched the sense that the throttle cable rotates on motor died.

Suggestions and thanks!

Sooo was running great and as soon as you filled up it started running bad and died????
Sounds like bad gas.... Anything else would be a wild guess.

Not an 06 6.2... That's gas

EDIT..... Er you meant did he accidentally put in diesel didn't you?

If so I think the bright red color would be a giveaway.

Well, it gets worse. Problem is Primary filter. Replaced. Merc guys came this morning. There is old in the bilge. A lot. Merc guys say they think it's blow by from the oils dipstick. Huh? Oil is coming out of that direction.

So the back story of this is we are on vacation. This boat pulled in, young couple just bough it, has 14 hours on it since they bought it. Total of 714 hours. They did not know to have it surveyed, it's a 26 Dancer. Called dealer, they said tough, boat was as is. When it's running you can hear the knocking. There is a loud hissing sound because Imthink it's the ICM, does not have the felt gasket so it has a vacuum leak.

Trying to help them out. You know, we all got help, we just weren't born with boating knowledge. Or better put, no good deed goes unpunished.

With a lot of oil in the bilge what is the current level of oil on the dip stick? Is it a knock loud and does it get worst as the speed increases? The loud hiss is probably coming from the IAC being fully open trying to keep the engine running.

Yup, knock gets worse. Dipstick shows oil dropping. Fill it back up, losing maybe. Quart an hour. Hard to estimate at this point.

Sorry to say the boat is going to need a long block or rebuild. Real bummer folks buy a boat and get the shaft
