Sorry, It's a 1981 150 Evinrude.
The problem is removing the Spark advance unit ??
I have ordered the manual but UPS is slow and I couldn't wait to get started!!!

If you're trying to take the timer base off, it's held on with 4 clips. But if you're trying to take the complete powerhead off, you'll leave it dressed until you have it on the bench. Lots easier that way.

That makes sense. I am trying to get all electrical off.
Would you not take all electrical off before removing the power head from the motor base??

Nope, take nothing off. Undress it on the bench, much easier.

Re: Help! Taking power head off a 150 evinrude

So I have four bolts out for the motor Mounts and it looks like two nuts to the stern of the motor ?? did I miss any ? Also I don't have a hook to mount on the crank to lift off the power head any ideas.

Re: Help! Taking power head off a 150 evinrude

i use a three finger puller on the three holes in the flywheel
i then rap a chain through it and pick it up with and engine hoist be sure you get all the powerhead mounting bolts from underneath 6 long. one two studs with nuts in front underneath and th same in back also two bolts from underneath in front by the nuts on studs
