Help!!! The Lake Is Calling Me!

I recently purchased a 70's model sea sprite tri-hull with a 115 rude(don't know year). Starter needed to be replaced and there was water in the fuel. Both have been fixed, but engine only runs on spray. The battery is fully charged and plenty of fuel, but acts like no fuel getting to carbs. I'm rebuilding the fuel pump on the 12th. Any info would be helpful.

I would say that if it had water in the fuel, it may have been sucked into the carbs. After sitting that way for a while the water will have a very negative effect on your fuel system. I would at least pull the carbs and clean/inspect when you repair the fuel pump. While your in there, you might as well throw in a couple of carb kits. They arent that expensive, and and wont take all that long after you get the carbs off.

P.S. the spray is a very bad idea, use fresh mixed fuel in a squirt bottle.

starter spray is the engines worst enemy, it has no lubricant and strips the lube off the moving parts, burns to hot for a 2 stroke, and has been known to burn holes in pistons. carb kits are going to be a must, and you need to clean thouroghly even the high speed jets. post the model number so we can figure out what you have. in order to help more. i beleive the carbs are your problem. your high speed jets are fixed and require a special tool . here's a link to another post. my post is most pertinate to you, read the links in it.

Thanks for all the help. I had success, it's running now after installing new fuel pump($70) & rebuilt both carbs($30 ea.), and ran fuel line out of soda bottle. Just for precaution, I want to change the water pump. Any idea about how long that would take? Also, one of the spark plug wires is broke (wire pulls out of boot). Can I just change the wire or do I have to change the coil as well. By the way, it's a 74 model with 20 gal. perm tank.

the hardest part of changing the impeller is getting the shift linkage loose and back together. and i don't have the manual for that vintage motor. there is a hidden bolt under the fin above the prop. once out it takes 5 minutes to change the impeller. diagrams here, follow prompts to your motor. http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Literature/
