anybody live fairly close to me that wants to make some extra bucks? I have gutted the wood from inside, i have looked for someone from local builders to come over but no one has called yet, even though they said they would, i live in bradenton florida, and would be willing to bring it to you, I basically need help with the glassing, and foam, I could have all the wood cut to size and have everthing ready for glassing/epoxy work. I just Moved here from Michigan and dont know to many people yet, I could get a Motel and help out or commute (I am currently not working)so any time would be good for me

Re: HELP WANTED

jimmy, welcome. First this project is not that difficult if you take your time. If you try to hurry it you will have problems. This forum and the FAQ's will address anything you need to do each step of the way. The other reason you will want to do this yourself, unless you are physically unable, is that no one will do as good a job as you will. Of course you haven't said what kind of boat it is either. If it's a yacht then no, don't do it yourself. I have seen estimates as high as $2000 bucks to redo a 21ft. you can do it for a lot less and will enjoy the results more.

Re: HELP WANTED

I agree with Fireman, I never had previous experience in fiberglassing either, but found it very easy. Don’t hurry (my boats name “the why Hurry”) I couldn’t tell you how many hours I spent sipping coffee while thinking over my next step. Check out Barns and Noble book store for fiberglassing books and do a search here. Great bunch of guys waiting to help.

Re: HELP WANTED

Jimmy,
phatmanmike's offer is something you can't beat.
phatmanmike I wish you lived in NY I would have included continues liquid supply such as beer, vine, tequila based upon preference.
Nicest thing someone could ever offer.
That is how a long term friendship starts and bonds like epoxy. ;) Good luck!!!

Re: HELP WANTED

I would go with Phat's offer, but take it one step further, LEARN. Get in there with him and learn how to do it, hands on with glass and epoxy is the best of way of learning. The books are a good read and give you wonderful reasons for why things do what they do, but actually doing it give you the understanding of how it works.

Plus there is huge satisfaction and pride in doing the job yourself, even with help, rather than getting someone else to do everything.

Re: HELP WANTED

It's like lark said. Learn. It really is satisfying. Doesn't matter if you are 4 or 90 it still feels good saying, "I did it myself". Jimmy what a great offer. If you two do tackle this project make sure that you post before/during/after update pictures.

Re: HELP WANTED

Southern Indiana is closer. Just don't forget to tuck about $600.00 in a water proof container into her first.
