help with '90 3.0l 4 cyl tune up.

Want to give the boat a tune up. I was told to pick up plugs,points,condenser, cap, rotor and wires.<br /><br />Can you guys lead me to an online shop to get all of this?<br /><br />Thanks.

I went to the iboats parts finder and found a tune up kit. The only problem is it list two kits one for ?-1990 and one for 1990-.... my luck, I've got a 1990, how do I find out which one I need?

If you have a NAPA store nearby they will have what you need

You don't have to replace the plug wires unless there is a problem with them. Of course if they are original it couldn't hurt.<br />Along with all the parts, do you know how to set the dwell, then check and reset the timing, how to check the advance timing, how to adjust the carb idlespeed and mixture? Do you know what the specs are for your engine?<br />There is more to a tuneup than just putting the parts in that someone says get to get.

Don-<br /><br />Plug wires are as brittle as straw. Yes they need to be replaced.<br /><br />Yes, I can adjust the idle screw.<br /><br />Yes, I can adjust needle valves to prevent running to rich or to lean.<br /><br />Thanks for your concern. I'm a product of the electronic fuel injection engine. I tune and adjust a/f ratio, rev limiters, shifting and idle with my laptop.<br /><br />Good thing my dad is still around to show me the ways of 'old school' tuning for adjusting dwell and timing.<br /><br />Got a look today for the first time at a timing gun and dwell meter... shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your post.<br /> <br /><br />I was told today that my mod # showed I didn't have points or a dwell to set? Got me...

Sounds like you have the Delco EST distributor in your engine. Don't forget, that distributor has to be put into base timing mode in order to set the timing.
