I just got this boat from my dad and the engine did run very well but a wire broke. The problem is that the wires are corroding and the sheathing is all off. The wire really needs replaced but I don't think there is enough there to attach on to. So I might have to replace a part.

There are two brown wires that tun from inside a black housing underneath the stator (red arrow below) and run over to each coil. These are shot and I need to do something with them. Should I tear it down and try to splice into it inside of the housing or can I solder a new wire on? I'm wondering if it would be best just to replace this part? Can anyone tell me what that black housing is right under the stator?

My engine serial number is
2955###

Lightning stamped into right side of block and a sticker that says "comet" next to that. It also has Kiekhaefer stamped in it.

I really know nothing about this engine. The cylinders are pretty caked with carbon but some Sea Foam should take care of that. I do want to give it a real good tune-up.

I appreciate any assistance.

Please replace pic with one small enough so we don't have to scan to read your text.

Can anyone tell me what part this is that the two brown wires run from? The wires come out from this black part under the stator and run over to each coil. I would appreciate the help.

Thank you
