good afternoon guys,
I am having problems and not sure I understand what I am seeing. my motor is a 1993 johnson TJ150 LETR...I have been told this is like a faststrike.
Anyways..last weekend at Kentucky Lake I was making a move across the lake and as I was getting the boat on plane, it just quit dead. Like you had pulled the kill switch. I tried to restart a couple of times with no luck. About an hour later I tried again and the motor fired right up. howver it seemed to be missing somewhat and was very hard to get on plane.
Fast forward to this week and iwas in the garage trying to diagnose the problem. didn't really find anything so I took it to the river and tried again. Same thing, died as i was getting on plane, NO restart. pulled it home (about 20 minutes to the house) and tried and the motor fired up on the muffs. it is missing and doesn't seem to rev up like it used to. This time I started going through troubleshooting in my manual to track down the issue.
Here is my question...when doing the power coil test I checked voltage to ground and the orange, and the orange/black wires. The orange/black wire had no voltage. The orange shows 6-7 volts. Sounds like I have a bad stator, does this seem right as compared to my problems?
Thanks you for any help.
Matt
