Help with a 25hp Mercury spark issues

Hi Everyone,

I am working on a boat that was given to me, was running about 5 years ago then sat. I am unable to find the year of it as the serial number from it doesnt come up anywhere when I search.

I am having spark issues, I have spark on one coil, and if I move the trigger wire to the other coil the spark will move with it. I am thinking maybe the switchbox , but I will say, I know very little about outboards at all. (I am going by a motor is a motor is a motor mentality)

There was one section of the trigger wire that was melted through and was showing the green crusties on the wires, and that is the one that is not firing at all., (I replaced the section of the wire that was bad but was not able to get it all replaced as there was still some crusities quite near the box itself.

If anyone could let me know what year this is, and what part number the switchbox would be I would be greatly appreacated.

Your motor Is a 1987 model. The serial # will help you find the right parts.
