I recently purchased an 85 sea king. It's a 15 horse. Although the trusted friend i got the motor from said it ran very well the last time it was in regular use, it hasn't run for a while and failed to even cough after some fuel was put in the cylinders. The plugs both gave spark , though nothing spectacular. Before getting into cleaning the carb and all I thought I'd like to get it to at least give me a cough to show me it runs. I'm changing the plugs and want to pull the flywheel , but the flywheel puller I have and have used on my older outboards won't work. This sea king doesn't have any threaded holes in the top of the flywheel like my oldies do. How do you remove the flywheel on these motors?? Use a puller with jaws to grab the outside of the flywheel?? Or tap, tap, tap, from the bottom?? I don't even know if the motor has electronic ignition or points and condensers?? Anyone know?? If it is points i will clean and reset the gap. Also, does anyone know the point gap setting and the spark plug gap setting for this motor if it is points at all. Thanks , I appreciate your help.
