I have a chance to up grade a bit, and had a chance to inspect a Regal 1982 (I think - can not find the HIN) I believe the original had chevy 302 pushing a 3 bladed prop (shaft not I/O) it now has a fuel injected 7.4L To put the new engine in the deck had to be raised. What I found during the inspection was that the deck was cut (6x6 hole) and 4x4's used to brace it up. the lower station (it is a fly bridge) the only thing that works is the key, throttle and helm. she has sat for over three years with only a once in a while start up at the pier and moved twice for storm evasion.

Any suggestion on an opening offer? I suspect it is going to cost at least $5000 if not more to restore. Also, what can I expect on fuel useage. the current owner has not got a clue, the engine has maybe 20 hours on it.

What to offer? Don't know without more details on the boat and it's condition. As for fuel consumption, I had a 29' Sportcraft with a 7.4l Mercruiser; "prepare to extend thy wallet". The boat was a cuddy cabin with a 320 gallon tank. (I never filled it all the way up) at cruising speed I would burn approximately 26 gallons per hour. I think if I got the key out of my pocket, about 10 gallons would vaporize!!!

If I get another big boat, it will be diesel and I will manufacture my own biodiesel. The 7.4l sucking gasoline sucked some of my enjoyment along with it.
