Re: help with bimini?

looks like a fine system. as far as height, i like to be able to stand under mine. measure from where you are going to mount the bracket up to where you want the top. that is the height for the top. seeing you are mounting outside the windshield. you want the top to be atleast as wide as the distance between the brackets. length go longer than you think you need. i would go 8ft on a 210.

i was looking at a westland top. I was wondering what the difference is between the sharkskin and sunbrella tops? Is it worth an extra hundred dollars? i also think an 8 ft. is longer than i need, i think a six ft. should be just fine. thanks for the replies.

Well a year has gone by and no top yet. Still not sure how i want to go. Mount on the outside, inside, how long, how tall, which material to go with?
I would like some feedback on what you think would be the best way to go101_5863.jpg

Re: help with bimini?

When I was looking to do mine I wanted something that would fit under the tower, but yet I could still stand under. We do alot of water sports so ducking under every time to the stern wasn't an option. I also did NOT want to mount to the windshield just to be on the safe side, as windshield parts are super expensive if you can even find them. The bimini's they make that mount to the tower are a joke very small and twice the $$ so that was out as well. I took some pvc and a tarp and along with my wife and son was able to mock up a bimini using different heights, lengths, positions, etc. Once I found the set up that was just right I had the helpers hold it in position while I carefully measured everything. Ordered one from I boats and have been super happy with it for 3 years now, plus I saved a ton by not ordering a custom tower bimini. It got here quickly, I had it installed in about 1 1/2 hours and now have great shade. I live in utah and certian lakes around here can be relentless as far as the sun and heat go. I drive a 20' crownline and went with the 6' model which has worked out well.

Re: help with bimini?

hey there. i have a 1990 larson senza 210 br lx and im looking to put a bimini on it. I have questions about height and where would be the best place to mount it. Its looking like mounting to the outside of the windshield. I was wondering if anybody has ever used the uni mount system. http://www.iboats.com/Bimini_Top_Un...47372162--**********.490944428--view_id.14127. Thanks for the answers i can get pics if that would help you.

I had the same questions a couple of weeks ago, here is my post and pics of my bimini top after i installed it: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=403448

Re: help with bimini?

That is a beautiful boat, from what I can tell from the pictures. It would be a shame to ruin it's lines by adding a regular bimini. If it was a viable option, a custom top by a fabricator, to complement the lines would be great.

However, it's possible 3 bow top could compliment the lines, gently curving front to back.

Mount the main supports in line with the ends of the windshield, use permanent support rods in the rear (instead of straps) and use a spreader system on the front bows, this will let you go without front straps.

These people carry them, www.geminicanvas.com. I have used similar systems and they give a very clean, custom look.

I can see what I am describing in my mind, I hope I managed to get it across to you.

You might want to buy just the bows and do as we did. Go to the pontoon heading and look up "bimini idea".
