Bought my son a new set of CWB XL bindings. They said they would fit up to size 13. My son wears a size 12 shoe. We soaped those babys up and he can hardly get them on. Tried getting them on in the water, no way. Had to struggle him in to them on the boat then help him get in the water. Then he couldn't get them off. I mean it was a painful experience for him. I'm going to get some slime or something and give it another try, but I'm thinking these things should not be THIS tight. Will they break in and loosen up a little. Is there anything else I can do other then returning these and looking for a XXL? Thanks for the reply!

Re: Help with Bindings

Many new bindings are hard to get on and off until they are broken in. Once you use the bindings a few sets they should loosen a little. If they are the CWB models with the hinge tech, it should be a little easier though. The main thing I would be concerned about is how his feet felt once he actually got them in the binding. If they were painful once they were inside then you need a larger size. There are too schools of thought about how tight a binding should be and I am with the thought that a binding could never be to tight, unless it is painful to ride. The reason for a tight binding is that most injuries occur when one foot releases out of the binding and the other stays in and the board spins. I always put my bindings on in the water and dont use any lube. You only need lube if you put them on before getting in the water.
