Canadian Manufacturer Identification Codes (MICs) are three-letter codes assigned by Transport Canada to identify boat builders, often starting with Y, Z, or Q. Due to a mutual recognition agreement, Canadian MICs are fully recognized by the
U.S. Coast Guard. These codes form the first three characters of the 12-character Hull Identification Number (HIN).
