I thought I'd heard it all until I went into a hardware shop and saw a box labeled -- 1/4" metric bolts --

Yes Rod, I'm a bit bored too.... :D:D:D

I don't mean to highjack this thread, but I like Ted's quote at the end of his messages... So much so, I sent a copy to my wife... Her comment was, "That may be so, but they usually don't have a problem until a man starts F!@#'n with them" :)

He forgot to include "testicles", leastways that's the I always heard it.

Re: Help with bolts

Thanks to all who helped! It was a 7/16 UNF with a 8.8 hardness. Just got back from putting new stainless bolt back on. Fit like a glove. While there, I had a look at a few other bolts, holding "things" onto the block. Go Figure,.... the heads are metric.
Now alls I have to do is retrain myself to say"UNF-UNC," instead of SAE NF-C. That's ol school I guess.
Thanks again!

And BA, ANC, ANF, BSP, NPT, BSW, BSF.... :D:D:D:D:D:D

Get a small pocket book from Zeus Precision. It has everything you'll ever need about threads and thread forms, and plenty you won't... (or PM me).
