Can anyone help with a part # to replace vro2 pump with regular fuel only pump. Motor is Evinrude- 1989 40 Hp model E40tlcec. Want to premix. Also current vro2 pump is working on fuel only but I notice a sucking noise while trolling. Help

Make sure the oil line is capped well. OMC 438559 pump will work.

Conventional lift pump for your motor is part #438556. See the parts catalog for your model, including superseding pump#. http://shop.evinrude.com/

Thanks for the help but one more question. If I change to a conventional lift fuel pump do I plug off anything. For instance where the quarter inch line ties into the block at the bottom of mator

Thanks. If I go with the conventional lift fuel pump are there any lines that I have to plug. For instance the quarter inch line at the bottom of motor that ties into block or crankcase?

Re: help with changing vro2 pump

The VRO pump gets its pulse through the line with pulse limiter on it - that should be blue and gold. That line has to be plugged.

The fitting where the lift pump is mounted has to be opened because the lift pump gets its pulse directly from the hole to the back of the pump. If you look at the back half of the block on the port side you should see the blocked hole with the two screw holes adjacent to it for mounting the lift pump.

Sounds like you know what you are talking about but forgive me I am a novice. I have never been able to fine the pulse limiter. It is so congested down there hard to trace things. Is the limiter screwed into block or crankcase at bottom of motor and a small line going off that and if so where does that line goe to. I found it just laying down on the bottom of cowling
