help with choosing a motor for aqua sport in Mexico.

i have posted here before with the problems we have had with our 20 ft Aqua sport and received some great advice!...well we now have a big problem.. we seized our 1995 175 Johnson engine..suspect loss of oil injection with no alarms...our big problem is we are here in Mexico and getting parts is a problem..plus the outdrive is in poor shape also...my thinking is repairing the old engine would be very expensive and we would still have a old engine that could have other problems in the future... we can buy a new mercury 75 hp 4 stroke here... the aqua sport weights approx. 2000 pounds with a 72 gallon fuel tank and we usually have 3 people on board....it's used for fishing and we need to troll at around 6 to 7 mph... i know the boat should have at least a 175 hp engine ...but could the 75 merc do the job? would the merc get the boat on plane?..other than slow speed can anyone think of problems we could have with a under powered motor?

I doubt if a 75 would get it on plane with two adults in it. I would recommend you buy the biggest motor you can afford. Even if it's a used motor.
