I have an OMC Cobra 2.3L Outdrive and I am wondering what I should observe when I operate the drive in a large tub of water. I started it in a tub today and did not observe any water coming out of the outdrive - is there a "peehole" for the water to exit or where does it come out?

I felt down by the screen suctions? and could not feel any "pull" against my hand. I am wondering if there's no "pull" because the thermostat is not open? Or, should it always be sucking in?

Does one side (port or stbd) suck in and the other exhaust the water?

Thanks!

Re: Help with Cooling

Kinda' figured it out myself. Shouldn't start motor in a tub of water - not enough depth to get up to water pump and may burn pump out. Also, OMC I/O water pumps should be replaced regularly (once / year some say). My impeller had one missing vane and one cracked almost all the way through and it was only in service since 05, so it's probably a good idea to replace or check annually.
