Hi all. I just changed the impeller on a evinrude 15 and put it back together. I hooked up the muffs and fired her up. I noticed that there was water coming out of the area where next to the lower unit where the shift rod goes into the lower unit (the area below where the motor rotates on and has the grease zirks) also there was water shooting out sideways from a hole near the front of the lower unit prop assembly. Does this sound normal. There is a good stream exiting the pee hole behing the motor but I'm concerned with this extra water.

Thanks,

Colin

Yup , you've got water shooting out all over down there. If it's not getting hot and you have a good telltale call her good.

What year? If it is one of the low profile engines w/the clamshell housing, there is a water outlet just above the juncture of the lower unit & clamshell housing. When running w/muffs, this appears to be a water leak from inside the engine. One does not see this if the engine is in the water.

Re: Help with evinrude 15

Ctac,

I am trying to put a 15HP evenrude back together myself. I brole it up pretty good in a stupid trailering escapade. I am trying to figure out where all of those springs go that help you lock/unlock the motor. Do you ave a digital camera and if so could you take some pictures of the backside of your motor where it clamps to the transome. I need a good shot of those 3 springs. if you can help out that would be great, Email them to dwtabb@cs.com.

Thanks,

Danny
