help with motor identification

I have a 1970 Glasspar 16'.8'' Citation it came with a Mercruiser 120, 140 & 160 engine. I can not figure out which one I have.

The side of the block says "Mercury Racing" serial number on the block is "3915988" then says "CON2" and "K 7 8" its a 4 cyl. motor with a Rochester carb. The Mercruiser stern drive is serial number is 2763316.


Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated.

there were only two 4 cylinder engines from mercruiser that year.

The 2.5L/120HP has only a pulley on the front of the crank

The 3.0/140HP has a vibration dampener/balancer on the front of the crank

Any ideas on the stern drive?

It's a MC 1 drive. Go to the link below and download the OEM service manual (#1). It covers your engine and drive.
