Help with mounting a trolling motor

I have a 1979 Magnium Boat that has a walkthru windshield and in front the bow area is u shaped with seats and no flat area to mount a trolling motor. I was thinking of taking a small section on the front seat area and figure out how to just mount a piece of Marine plywood above it and put carpet on it and mount the trolling motor to it. Is it very much of a problem to mount some l shaped brackets to the fiberglass. I have sent a site that you can look at and let me know what your suggestions might be.

There is really not enough room at the back. If you could see it you would understand. I want to add and try and figure out what i need to do to make part of the front bow flat. I have it in my head if it will only work. Question is getting the marine plywood mounted securely. Have to check and see if the brackets that I need will mount into the fiberglass and hold. I use to work with fiberglass years ago on cars so it isnt new to me. Any ideas will be a great help

I would take a few more close up pictures and 1 from above on that bow area. Then ask this question in the restoration forum as for ideas on building brackets etc.

This is not a big problem. Remove the pads. Measure the distance from the top of the seat platform to the top of your deck. Use two by ??? and 1/2 inch plywood to build an insert. Make an extension over the bow to mount the trolling motor. Secure it to the floor using a strap, build some stairs to get up to the deck and Voila' You're fishing.

Do you also think it would be best to use Marine plywood and stainless steel brackets. Do I need to prime the marine plywood also before I cover it with carpet to match rest of boat. If you did this and I had room to make me a drop in live well. What type material would you use for this if I can get it to fit. Fiberglass or something else

Exterior 1/2 ply, two coats of Poly resin ( Home Depot) You could use some 4 to 6 oz cloth if you wanted to make sure it would last forever but Iwould'nt worry about it. Two coats of resin should make it last a long time. Contact Cement, Outdoor Carpet, Galvanized Deck screws coated with a little resin would last forever. I would use a cheap Wal-Mart Ice Chest or storage container for a Live well. Check out the link below on how to make one. Should cost no more than $50.00 You could even cut out a section and insert it in the deck.

If you're going to use just resin....then go with epoxy. Poly has little strength by itself. I'd go paint before poly by itself.

Ezombee is !000% correctamundo. If you're gunna just coat em with resin use Epoxy. My BAD!!!! Couple of coats of Good Quality Porch Paint Would go along way too!!!!
