The VRO on my 1991 Evinrude 115 (E115TLEIE) is going bad.

I had the VRO oil line bypassed and I'm mixing the fuel now, just using the VRO for a fuel pump but I'm still having problems that seem fuel related. I went out tonight and pumped the fuel bulb tight, and I'm hearing hissing coming from a seal on the VRO pump. I'm at the point where I want to just install a regular vacuum driven non VRO fuel pump, and wondering what my options are?

I found this pump when I looked at the parts list on **********, but it shows that this particular pump is for an 88 model. Any ideas if this one will work, or are there any other cheaper models available?

I think you are on the right track, you might run a search, there has been a lot of posts on converting from a VRO to a pulse pump.

Thanks Daviet - The part number since my above link didn't work, is 0433387.

I've been searching the forums for a couple of hours or so..I've read that one vacuum pump wouldn't provide enough pressure, and also that there may be an option to install a mechanical pump in this engine if I find the right one and remove the plug from the block, but not sure what the final say was on those issues.

Just trying to find out what to do, as I'm real tired of messing with this thing, and just want to enjoy some time on the water with the family. :)

I don't think that pump will work for you, it's made to bolt directly to the block and only has two line ports. I think you are going to need a remote mount fuel pump with three line ports, I will see what I can find for you.
EDIT: I think you need a pump like this one, you will have to build a mount fot it but it shouldn't be hard to do.http://www.ishopmarine.com/ishop/js...CatFilter=BRP&eCatSupFldr=supplier-100-005-EJ

Thanks for taking the time to look for that. I'll do some research on it and order it up if it looks like a winner.

Make sure and look at your engine and make sure there is a remote pulse line coming from the crankcase to the VRO that you can use to drive the pulse type pump.

Yep - there is a pulse hose from the crankcase to the bottom of the VRO.

You should be OK then.
