Help with service manuals needed, please.

I have a 1991 Blue Water Cuddy, with:

Engine GM V8 5.0/LX Ser# 0D520447 Thunderbolt Ign.
Drive Ser# 0D535656

and I think it is an Alpha One Gen II (not sure about the Gen II) Ser# 0D561552

Is the outdrive a Gen II? What Mercruiser manuals do I need? (I think they are #14 and #15; but I am not sure).

Thank you for your help.

Here is a link to a free online manual for your drive, they don't have one for your engine.

Thanks for the confirmation on the service manuals, etc. I don't know if I did something wrong, but that link is basically only the table of contents??

I'll try to scout around and see if I can find the full manuals for #14 and #15. Would you happen to know of a source (other than EBay and Amazon.com, which I have tried) that would have them? Always looking for a bargain if there is such a thing in the service manual world!

You need to click on the individual section titles (on the table of contects page) to view that section.

There is a guy on ebay (not me) that sells Mercruiser manuals on PDF. I have purchased a few from him and they seem to work just fine.

Thanks for the help, but Acrobat Pro says that it is unable to open anything other than the initial 14notice.pdf. The links show up when hovered or clicked, but only results in "Unable to open 14xxxxx."

Go to the page with the service manual outline like in the picture below.

Then click on the little red box on the section you want.
You also need to be online at the link I gave you for it to work. It sounds like you saved the index to your computer and it won't find it that way. You must be at the link I gave you.
You can then save each section, but the link will still not work.

Well, I have done just as you say, I do get the picture with the red squares, I can click on them while online, etc., but each item returns the "unable to open 14blah blah." It may have to do with the way frames are handled on my winXP / IE6 browser and Acrobat Pro v7. Actually, the pdf file never shows up in the ie6 browser, but rather it goes right off to acrobat with a "viewing external URL" on an otherwise blank ie6 page. There is an additional message which says, "remove this frame" but the process had already called acrobat which is displaying the 14notice.pdf file. Nothing on the red squares in the table of contents does anything other than get the unable to open ... message.

I have even tried using your link directly with the same result. So there is something different between our systems that is preventing the linkages from working, or else there is a problem in the 14notice.pdf file.

At least I should be able to buy those manuals somewhere. #14 is available from the John Qualt reference mentioned above, though it is only in .pdf format on a CD. I'll try our local library and a few other sources around the metro area to see if I can find them.

Thanks Don, for all your help. It may not seem like much, but you've probably kept me from spending the big bucks only to end up with the wrong manuals! #14 and #15 seem to be the right ones, though.
