I need 2 parts for my 1986 Merc 35.

I'm converting from power tilt/trim to non power tilt/trim. I need the 2 shock absorbers to replace the hydraulic lift assemblies.

I'm adding the PT-35 (bought here on iBoats) so I don't need the big reservoir, hoses, etc of my current tilt/trim.

I have all the parts for the power tilt/trim, but can't seem to locate the 2 simple shocks.

thanks

Kelton
I've looked around a bit and was wondering, if you are going with the CMC unit, what is the purpose of the shocks? Is it not self-contained? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the situation you have. Are you looking for the shocks(Cylinders) for your old PT&T?

Re: Help with Some Mercury Parts

I thought I needed them....I took off the power rams....and on the manual tilt/trim motors that I've seen pics of, they seem to have shocks where the power rams were.

maybe I'm confused and looking for somehting I don't need.

Re: Help with Some Mercury Parts

That's true on the Manual tilt models they had an "assist" cylinder, that helped out when you went to tilt it up. These are VERY expensive. You will have no need for these when you put your CMC unit on. Just mount the CMC unit to the transom and then the motor to the CMC unit, wire it up and you're set to go. It does all the work with no assist....

RB - I think he's talking about the two shock absorbers that would be in place of the rams on the older-style trim. Those do have some functional purpose, like if the leg hits a submerged log, or Jimmy Hoffa etc. :)

-W

Kelton you will love that pt35. I got the pt 135 right here off iboats and that thing works great,
The best thing is that it installed easily.
