I have a teleflex mechanical NFB rotary steering
helm and I just noticed that the steering is out of adjustment. It takes 2 full turns of the steering wheel to turn full right but will only do 1 full turn to the left. Thus steering to the left is poor(engines are turned only half way to full steering). How can this be adjusted?

Should be simple other than disconnecting the cable from the control. Center the unit, disconnect the cable from the control and run the inner cable full out until the cable is hanging. Make sure the drive is still centered then reinsert the cable while turning the wheel until the outer sheating seats. I dont particulary care for the self locking telflex if that is what you have some have a locking bolt. Hope this helps. fred

how old is the steering? sounds like the cable is jamming up in the tilt tube. pulling the cable and reinserting it is gonna do jack. closely look at the engine while it is being steered, does it get caught up on anything else?
remove the nut connecting the steering arm to the cable and center the wheel and the engine, do they line up?

Howdy, jacenko.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Five year old thread.

We encourage you to use the SEARCH function to find possible answers to your question, but please do not reply to them with a new question.

First, the topic is old and probably solved. Second, adding a new question to a thread is called hijacking and is considerred bad manners.

Please start a new thread in the Boat Topics Forum with your question.

Good luck. :)
