Help with steering question

I have a 2015 300 Yamaha on a Pathfinder. I accidentally got it stuck in shallie water. The steering was really hard but the felt something pop and it is working fine now. I saw this piece (the silver looking washer) and it looks jacked up. What is it and can you tell if it is compromised?

Welcome aboard.

All merged into one thread.

And moved into the Yamaha section cuz it lookes like a busted motor part more than the helm or cable.

Red - Can you back up a little bit to show more? Seeing the steering cable on the top edge makes the pic look like the washery looking thing is part of the clamp bracket. :noidea:

have you looked at it while turning the steering ?

looks kind of like that attaches the steering to the motor and something broke right under that washer
