Re: help with switch identify

Looking at the illustration of a a (chemical beaker) I'm going to say it's the switch for a bilge blower.

That's where the kill switch lanyard connects. Without the clip to activate the switch the engine should not run. If you've been running the boat without the lanyard, then someone has disconnected the switch. Fix it. It's a safety feature.

Never push the button, it might be a doomsday switch.

On a serious note, before I pushed it, i would try to find out what it goes to first.

The fact that there is a kill switch lanyard (red) laying behind it indicates it is a kill switch. The clip should hold the button in. When the lanyard is pulled, the button pops out killing the engine.

I have no idea what it is, but the figure on the front doesn't lead me to believe that it is a kill switch. I would trace the circuit to find out what it is.

the picture is of an engine with a slash across it..... means engine kill..... would either be a kill switch or a lanyard.... I suspect the second.... a rubber cap that pops on and holds the button in.

Poor illustration of a crankshaft, engine, rod, whatever but yea I can see it now, whomever spotted the lanyard is very observant.

Looks like our jet ski lanyard kill switch. The button is held IN by the cap on the end of the lanyard. Our boat has a clip from the side, so I didn't recognize it at first.

If the engine starts without the lanyard attached, check your wiring.

Happy boating!
