Ayuh,.... A couple switches, some wire, 'n clips, you can build yerself a remote start kit,...

Power the coil's (+) terminal, 'n a push-botton switch to activate the starter's solenoid(inside tiny terminal)...

If you do remote start be very careful of moving parts. Be sure you are connecting correctly. Seen guys lose fingers and one guy melted his wedding band on his finger reaching down to the starter. Shouldn't have been wearing it in the first place but he's branded for life now that he has "With Love, Henrietta" backwards permanently on his finger from the inside of the ring. God help him if he ever is single again trying to date and explaining who Henrietta is and why he was dating a gal named Henrietta.

Re: help with valves,i think

just read a thread by cascobay from 2011 and itsounded like he had the same problem with the oil in the water. i had to take the new risers off 3 times for different reasons so maybe i screwed up the riser gaskets causing the water to get into the valves. on top of that their was a sqeeling noise comming from the front of the engine so i took off 2 of the belts and started the engine and the noise was still there. the belt to the sea water pump was the only belt on. could not see how to adjust the belt so i cut it off and sure enough it was that pump almost seized up.looks like i can rebuild it.gettin back to the riser gasket do you guys think it could be the problem. thanks again.

Yeah, riser gaskets are throw aways, get 4 so you have 2 extra. And get the ones with steel cores and graphite exteriors. They are grey, the green paper ones aren't worth the powder to blow em to H E 2 sticks.
Cover the valve train before you do anything else, don't get anything else in there. The water will boil off when you warm up the motor, so that's ok.
Make sure the mating surfaces are flat, don't round them off with a wire brush or hand sand paper. If they need cleaning use a flat scraper or a very fine abrasive on a hard flat block. You can use a conditioning disc but must be really careful to buff away from any corners, and only clean enough to remove corrosion and make a flat surface. It's ok to get bits in the water jacket and exhaust there, just keep it out of the heads.

Ayuh,.... For cleanin' 'em up, medium mill Flat File works pretty good on those surfaces,...

pulled new risers and intake off tonite. gonna start all over again.it looks like i didnt apply enough sealant around each port, I'm hoping its that.i also saw some gas in one of the ports.dont think thats suppose to be there.what do you think?

Re: help with valves,i think

It's OK to see fuel in the intake ports. The carb sends atomized fuel down the manifold to the port and the valve lets it in the head. When cold it sends a lot of fuel down. So If it has fuel you hope it came from the carb when you tipped it or pumped the throttle.
Now, if you last ran it to full hot and then carefully removed the carb and intake so as not to get any gas out of the carb there should be no gas in there.
I suppose you could remove that liquid, then turn the motor over a time or two to watch and see if the intake valve operates on that cylinder. But if it was running smoothly I'd think the valve will be working.
If it turns out to be water it might have been on top of the intake in a crevice from your riser to manifold "shower".

As far as pulling the intake, don't reuse the intake gaskets unless they are perfect, any crinkles, wrinkles or tears aren't OK. You might not have needed to pull that off, but it's done now.
You don't put sealant around the intake ports, just put a 3/8" bead of RTV on the front & rear of the valley keeping it out of the oil sender hole at the back. Go up 1/2" onto the intake gaskets. Put Mercruiser Perfect Seal on the little cooling ports on the outer ends of the intake gaskets. It will keep the gaskets in place and keep the cooling water where it belongs. The intake gaskets are the same for both sides, put the marked sides up.
When you re set the intake be fussy to make sure the gaskets don't move.
