I am looking for a new pontoon boat and found a boat at a dealer 15 minutes from where I live,I also found the same boat at a dealer 3 hours away for believe it or not $2300.00 less and that includes delivery to me.It is a great deal,my only concern is what happens if something goes wrong with the boat or engine while under warranty where do I take it,3 hours is a long way to have to take your boat for warranty work.Any Suggestions would be helpful as I am kinda new to this?

I prefer to have my original dealer service my rig. He's just over (1) hr away. There is a local (10)mins. away dealer that would gladly handle work on my Mercury, but unless it's an emergency, I don't go there. Is dealer #1 aware of the price difference from dealer #2 ? If they can close that price gap by at least half, it may be worth it. Good luck !!!

They are aware of the price difference and will not move on it due to the amount of units they sell. One other note is that I will be keeping it on a boat lift all year long and do not own a trailer to even transport it to dealer #2 if I had warranty issues.I am really only concerned with warranty items not so much normal servicing as I have someone local that can take care of that.I know there is value in buying local I just wished it was a closer price gap to make my decision easier.

If you have someone local to handle regular service I can't think of any reason not to buy from the dealer three hours away unless they have a really bad reputation or you don't like them. 2300 bucks is a chunk of change and in my opinion is well worth the hassle. After all, unless you get a lemon it's unlikely you'll need warranty service often, and there are rental and loaner trailer available for infrequent transport. Frankly, there are lots of boaters who have to trailer their boats that far for service because there's no one else available, not because they travelled there for a good price. What are we buying?

Something just occurred to me. If we're talking manufacturer warranty it seems like you could take it to any authorized shop. Have you checked with the manufacturer(s)?

You can rent a lot of trailers for $2,300 or even buy one. It's rare that you will need service so go for the lower price.

Warranty work is gauranteed money and no dealer is going to turn it away so I am sure the closer dealer will gladly do the work and I am sure he would understand since he knows you can get a better deal and won't work with you, it is his fault you didn't get the boat from him.

As Incoop sadi, any factory dealer will do the warranty work no matter where you buy the boat.
