hello.. i am fairly new to the boating world and i was wondering if anyone could help me.. i am restoring a pontoon boat and i have already re-decked it and put new carpet down... i need to fix the transom on it i know what is the best kind of wood to use? i was also wondering if this form has a parts for sale or a parts wanted thread... most of the car forms do and i thought maybe this one would but like i said i am fairly new.. so any help would be greatly appriciated.. i am also redoing the sides of the pontoon... can you sand them down to put a fresh coat of paint on them? what kind of paint is needed for watercraft?

"i need to fix the transom on it i know what is the best kind of wood to use?"

'Toons' always throw us for a loop. W/o pictures I am shooting the the dark. 1st suggestion is use what was there before. Probably plywood. Seal the plywood really well with epoxy.

Other possibilities are wood alternatives like TRex decking, etc. Be careful of AC2 treated (pressure treated) woods because they will corrode metals, you can only use hot dipped galvanized and stainless fasteners with it and if your OB clamps rest on AC2 it will eat those as well.

Parts for sale = eBay

I just posted my opinion in another thread. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=198013

You can use anything you want, it all depends on how soon you want to repaint it.. Above the water line I have no problem using Latex house paint or enamels.
