Re: HELP
The black Mamba is Africa's deadlest snake known.
Jaws: The lower jaw can be temporarily dislocated to the snake to swallow prey that is much larger than its own head.

Posture: Even when moving at speed the black mamba can hold its head about 50cm off the ground.

Speed: Over long distances it travels at about 11km/h in short bursts.

Colouration: Grey-brown upper parts, with paler grey underbelly.

Striking Position: The black mamba is long and powerful, and can lift the front part of its body up to 1m from the ground when striking.

The Green Mamba: Smaller, shyer and less poisonous than the black mamba. Lives in eastern and southern Africa.

The black mamba requires frequent food as it is active and moves at high speeds.

It hunts rodents, birds, lizards, bats and other small mammals.

It strikes accurately and at lightning speed with its fangs.

It has extremely keen eyesight and can lift its head and the front of its body about 1m off the ground when striking.

It injects lethal venom through two hollow fangs at the front of its mouth.

The venom attacks the nervous system and rapidly suffocates the victim.

Enzymes in the snake's saliva and venom start to digest the prey even before it reaches the stomach.

The black mamba's high rate of digestion ensures that most prey is completely digested within a few hours.

* The black mamba is the fastest snake in the world, reaching speeds of 23km/h over short distances.

* The black mamba can digest an animal the size of a large rat within nine hours.

* Snakes such as the black mamba are dark-skinned to enable their bodies to absorb a lot of radiant heat. Desert dwelling snakes are often paler to reflect heat, preventing overheating.

* The venom of both the black and green mamba is 'milked' from the fangs and used in medical research.

Now what else you need to know?
