give me an hour an check it again..webtv has it's plus's.. but all it is; is internet.. that's it.. no 'poota power ' but it's all i need.. even if i had poota ,all i would use is the 'web'.. i can balance my checkbook with a pencil.. i can sit in my recliner in my livin' room an thru a wireless key board,, have the web on my 24 in tv screen.. an it even has pic on pic feature split screen.. i find it more enjoyable & more comfortable then in a backroom sittin'in a str8 back desk chair staring into a foot away monitor.. i couldn't do it.. that's " bullpoota "....

pootas have some uses..

I designed my new dash layout and position on the poota.. took photos of boat and dash, and used the computer to add the rest.. and it looked like the finished product.. so I had a photo to copy as I worked.. and it took my less then an hour all up..

they have their uses.. I just setup one beside the video.. its connected to my broadband network, and its job is to play mp3's on my home HIFI and putput dvd's onto my telly..

good stuff.. I now have 5 computers runnign in my house.. all networked together so they all have high speed internet,, great fun with local network games.. and alot of other uses. like the one above with the dash and cabin.

rgds

Frank

Re: Here are some comments on Seacast..

Actually, it was surprisingly easy to do..

I took a photo of my boat in the perspective I wanted.. then I took a photo of the dash from the same perspective.. then I used a graphics program to open the boat photo and pasted the dash photo (which I had resized to be in proportion) onto the boat....

then I drew in the supports and stuff by hand using my graphics application to fill in the blanks..

looked great and served as a guideline for my work..

I'll show you all an example shortly.

rgds

Frank

Ok, here is a really really rough example, I didn't use color matching or anything.. so its rough as he!!.. Basically I dug up an old photo of my boat after I cut the cabin front out.. and added the wraparound style windscreen I added and put the sliding door that is in the middle now..

Here is the before photo, the only windows are holes in the cabin walls..

boat1.jpg

And here is my very rough version where I filled in the windows and put the door in.. bear in mind that this is ten minutes work and no effort to make it look real.. but you get the idea.

boat1-fin.jpg

Like I said, its pretty rough, but its good enough to see some of the finished effect..

wish I had photos of the way it looked when I got it.. very very differnet.. (old rounded style windows...)

anyway.. hope you like my little demo :)

rgds

Franki

Re: Here are some comments on Seacast..

Good question mr crabbait,, I can tell you its a very narrow 17 foot long half cabin, and at the rear the hull is very close to flat bottomed. but thats about the extent of my knowledge of the boat.. other then the hull is apparently called "Piercy" thats it.. but I have only ever seen one other, so they appear to be quiet rair...

rgds

Frank

Crab Bait, Does your Web TV keyboard have an "End" key for cursor control? On PC, I hit end and then scroll back to see latest messages. Much faster than scrolling through things I've already read. Just a thought!

BL...

Re: Here are some comments on Seacast..

yah, its a long thread.. mostly cos I have touble posting less them ten lines :)

Its just a lil boat. but it serves its purpose..

my iboats user name is a good indicator as to the engine size..

I have a Johnson 100HP 100ESL72 on it.. and a little chrysler 6HP kicker I picked up cheap out of the paper.

comes in very handy.. I bought the boat about 8 years ago and it had no motor, was looking very rough and the trailer sucked pretty badly..

I'm slowly getting there with fixing it up.. its fun, but its slow work.

rgds

Frank

Re: Here are some comments on Seacast..

yeah, I like it too... its very heavily built, so its not as fast as it could be,, but who cares??

nearly flat bottom but deepish V at the front gives it good characteristics.. bit of rough stuff is no worries.. but with the flat bottom at the back, on full plane.. its got the same contact with the water as a speedboat.. so it does fly,, even my old evinrude 40 used to push it pretty fast...

when I got it, it had no visor, and no bimini cover.. I built the visor from Polycarb, (nearly indestructable, but surface scratches very easily.) I just can't wait to finish it.. I am alittle tired of working on it now.. want badly to start using it again...

hopefully soon I will get it to a point I am nearly happy with and that'll do for awhile.

regards

Frank

Oh yeah..

the bow railing wasn't there when I got it either..

I found that on a 50 footer that was being wrecked.. it was way to big.. so I cut the bottom half off and weilded new feet on it.. it doens't look like it in the photos, but it really suits the boat.

rgds

Frank

Hey Frank, Sea Cast guy !

I remember your posting from a year ago. Now I have ordered my Sea Cast and suppose to have gotten it yesterday or today. I was wondering if you have already done the sea cast if so. Let me know what to look out for.

I plan on doing it very soon. I will keep you guys posted.

Soon we will find out if its phony or phenomenon.
