Here is an ironic twist (Vet's will laugh)

We have been getting letters about the laptop theft and the identity theft during the past few months.

Today in my mail I received an envelope from Department of Veterans Affairs and there is a box outlined on the face of the envelope that states

"ENCLOSED IS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS DO NOT THROW AWAY!"

Yes, in all caps. Sounds important. Well..... the envelope was not sealed and it was empty!! :^

I call my post office and the postal person who answere the phone had received the same letter. It had to do with identity theft and bla bla bla they caught the criminal..... Of all pieces of mail to come up missing I thought that was ironic.

Yes, that is ironic!

Mine came yesterday, with the letter enclosed. All it stated was that they recovered the laptop, the FBI thinks that no information got out, but they still recomend watching your accounts.

The postal worker is dropping a copy to me tomorrow.

For such security you thing that the GS or WG worker at the VA would have kept an eye on the machine!

Ah but did the letter actually come from the VA or was it a Nigerian scammer asking you for bank account details? dd

Similar thing happened over here a few years ago when the IRA hacked into the Army payroll computer with all our addresses/details etc...........all heck broke loose after that one :|
