Frank, sorry Brother but you just don't fit in.;) You mean to tell us you had that sweet rig for 3 years and never splashed it???? The mob may not come visit you for the lack of pics my friend, but we may have to come and drag you and the boat to the water.
Welcome and here is hoping we soon see pics of the splash, of course a video would be better.:D

Nice boat, that hardtop will let you fish in almost any kind of weather:)

Looks like a 175hp Johnson, should be a great motor for that rig.

It looks like you modified the splashwell, did you build in a small tuna door of some sort for hauling in huge Chinook?

Welcome to the Starcraft fleet!

Re: Here is my 1990 220V Islander

Thanks for the warm welcome!! I'm proud to be a part of the Starmada. I kinda knew most all Starcraft owners would have to be nice folks. and looking forward to great Starcraft comrodery!!

Hard to explain but I couldn't be happier with my selection. For me it's the perfect all arounder and met my personal criteria Aluminum hull,Outboard,Trailerability. Course there are a few more, ability to get the whole family on board at once.Cuddy,Closed bow,PortiPoty for the better half!!

It's been a long time coming, just a few more tweaks new batteries, finish wireing new bildge pumps and I'm good to go.

Looking forward to sharing stories, and learning additional boat restoration tricks, talk with you all soon!! Thanks again, Frank:)

Trimmed out nice. I like the bolsters. I think I'll ad some to my 221V. Are the cuddy doors original? I took the old aluminum door off mine and need to pu something back in their place. I like yours with slats and all. Thanks.

The Cuddy doors are not original, they are Teak trimmed to fit the opening,I believe the original doors were aluminum much like a exterior residential storm door with a plexi glass lite. The up side with the louvers, air can circulate into the cuddy. The finish on the doors and area at the splash well are coated w/2-coats of Teak oil

Yeah I agree, those doors look great. I'd like some small ones for my splashwell, that would allow some air flow for gas tanks.

So how many HP is that motor? If you could post some more photos that would be great too, that's one of the nicest Islanders we've seen on here I'd say.:)

Re: Here is my 1990 220V Islander

Well the motor is a 2000 Johnson Ocean Pro 175 certainly not the original. and the kicker is a 4-stroke 15HP Evinrude(not shown) I was a bit nervous when I saw that the previous owner mounted some flat plates at the rear corners where the motor mounts.
But looking at the transom it does not appear nor feel like the wood is soft. There is a small visual crack in the chrome trim coping but really not that bad.

The one thing previous owner botched that for the life of me do not understand at the bow where the factory bow eye is, he installed an additional eye that I believe could be below the water line!! The only explanation that I could think of was he was not a very tall guy and the winch on the winch post may have been mounted to low for the fac/eye and the plane of pull may have forced the bow in a downward fashion which may have added a bunch of drag on the bunks when he was trying to load back on. My only thought .

After first launch I will check placement of that eye and I might be better off removing it. Then the question becomes how do I fill in these holes in my bow?? Any ideas do I try to weld in a backing plate on inside and then puddle in some aluminum welding or ?? I was told that if the welder does not know how to weld aluminum properly you can end up with a weakend area and a worse situation than you started with. I'm stumped for this repair
