I Bought a 1883 v375 18' Ranger with 1990 200hp merc last year. Rebuilt the carbs and changed all the hoses everywhere, cleaned the fuel tanks & changed the fuel pump diaphragm. I took the boat out for the first time last week. It has a 26 pitch Chopper prop on it. It was having a lot of trouble getting on plane it would take 10 sec or more with people to get on plane. It gets to about 3500rpms for 5-8 sec before it would finally level out and then I would get a jolt to take off. So I thought it could be the prop and sense I was up north I could only find a aluminum prop 23 pitch. I put that slowly took off. Then it started bogging down at 2000-2500rpms and would kill. Took it out and took all the carbs off checked the floats for too rich a mixture, didn't work same thing happened. The next morning I put the old prop back on and it went back to the slow off the gun untill it got on plane. Any thoughts The carbs seem to be working right (all are sucking air and not leaking) I have a fuel/water separator (no water). This prob is above my knowledge level. I know the chopper props can run shallow but I don't see why it would bog down with the aluminum prop. Any advice on what I should try?
