Heritage Trailer Drums

I have a Heritage bunk trailer. It is a tandem axle trailer, however only one axle has drum brakes. When I lift spin the wheels with the brakes they seem to drag in certain areas of the drum. The sticker says adjust out until you can't turn the wheel by hand and then back off 10 clicks. When I do this, it still drags pretty good, but only in a couple of spots. Does that mean my drums are warped and need to be turned? I don't feel comfortable with them dragging, so I have backed the adjuster off more like 20 clicks to minimize the dragging.

Thanks
Chris

Re: Heritage Trailer Drums

I'd turn the drums. 20 clicks seems a little excessive. On my last trailer which had drums, 5 clicks was all that was needed to go from dragging to completely free spinning.

This will also minimize braking. I would have the drums turned.

It's possible that the drums are rusted in a couple of places and it will clear up after a few miles if you leave them adjusted to where they drag slightly.
