hesitation 1999 5.7 VP

engine, WT model 5.7 GS SN is 4110179640, v-p XS-M outdrive sn4112058557.
it was doing this before new carb.
newly rebuild holley 4 barrel, pre tested. hesitation on acceleration, pump throttle and it will go, but if not it will die. idles beautifully, wot no problems. just a dead spot, when coming out of the hole. no fuel leak, replaced water separator filter.

you guys know i'm an outboard guy, but this is my sisters boat.

Thats a tough one TD. Has the timing been checked to see if it advances as it should?
I know the accelerator pumps on those Holley carbs can be touchy..sounds like maybe its pumping too late..

Ayuh,... I don't do Holley's TD, but it sounds like it's going Lean at the transition...
Acc. Pump outa time maybe,..??

Since it was rebuilt, are you sure the accelerator pump has all the parts installed properly and adjusted right? If not, here is a link to the manual. Section 7 is for that carb and shows how to set the accelerator pump. They CAN be done wrong, and they won't work.

thanks, that was my thoughts also. guess National Carbs, didn't get the adjustment correct.

It could also be that you have the idle mixture either too lean or to rich. Did you adjust them when you installed the carb?
