hesitation on 98 3.0l merc

I took my 98 monterey out 3.0l merc for the first time today and found it seemed to hesitate ( each time from idle to a little over 2000 rpms. If I "feather" the throttle I could get over the dead spot. Any suggestions. I got this is the fall and its a 98 with very low hrs. Put in new plugs,cap,all fuel filters etc.Also added a fuel/water seperator. Thought by adding new fuel to the tank, maybe it was stale fuel? Also added b-12 to the gas. Any help would be appreciated. <br />Joe

I am not familier with b-12 but it's a good idea to put carb and fuel injector cleaner in the fuel in the spring to remove the winters crude and I think that could be your problem--Bob
