These kids are really picking on this dude.. Guess he had enough.. Even his friend came running up and didn't really want any after this.. My friend showed me the video and said both boys got in trouble.. I think the chunky fella shoulda got a medal..

Aside from that, why do we as a society feel the need to pick on others, or ridicule them. I like to pick and tease at times, but I try not to be hurtful, and if I learn that I have been, try to apologize right away. I keep working at not teasing so much, but sometimes it seems like a loosing battle ...

In high school I wrestled at 138lbs. and was put with the heavy weight in all practice to make the heavy weight work faster. If I could keep him from grabbing ahold or squashing me, I could out maneuver him hands down. He used to get so mad, and he was my friend. Sad to say he passed away 2 years after high school from the flu.

You blokes are just gonna love this - the article on the online news channel has hundred of 'comments', all supporting the big kid - pretty vocally too- but the authorities disciplined him for his aggressive actions.

It amazes me.
You take one well educated individual - place him in a Govt paid position (where his production/output is worth about 30% of his salary) and after years of institutionalization, he can't accept the fat kid has the right to defend himself against a serial bully, and the fat kid must be disciplined severely so he never defends himself again.

OK, as you know this happened in our country, and tonight the fat kid is being interviewed in a 10-15 min segment of 60 minutes. The promo shows a softly spoken kid, good sense of humor, gentle nature. (Just eaten a few-too-many bags of chips I guess)

I'm watching it, with what seems a lot of other people.

I will cheer the big kid on. Too many pukes get away with dumb crap like that and only get cheered on. I bet the next time he decides to punch some one because he thinks he can get away with it, he will think again. I do wish more kids who get pushed around like that would stand up for them selves win or loose. I think we turn our cheek to often and are taught that,s the best way.

It's a shame that it had to come to this, but the bully got exactly what he deserved. I hope that in spite of the punishment the bigger boy received, his parents agree with the value of defending himself.
Reminds me of a situation my sister had in junior high. Without condoning violence, my father made it clear that if she got suspended due to fighting a bully, my sister had better win the fight. With just that "backing" my sister was able to stand up the the bully without violence, but just with knowledge that she could if she really had to.
Kinda like some guy once said, "Peace through strength"?
