HI all. I only have one simple issue. When I first start it every time I have to spray that Gummouts's carb/choke cleaner, then it runs very well. I have used Lucas carb and fuel injection juice in my case tank which seems to make it run smoother but I was wondering if your answer is what I think. Take apart the carbs and soak them in a solution. What I am asking is, since it runs fine except for startup it wouldn't be spark plugs would it, and if so, what's the gap number. I tried to take off one of the carbs, got to a cotter pin, and was like, no way. I really can't afford to have someone do it and do not even know how to find a place where I live and hope I get someone honest that won't rake me over the coals. So I guess I had a few questions here but there isn't some magic juice to put in the tanks that would eventually make it fire up without spray a quick shot of the Gummout? I have also heard I can try spraying the Gummout in the Gas tank... Ty for reading this.

Are you using the push-to-choke feature on the ignition key correctly?
1) Squeeze primer bulb until firm
2) Move the fast idle lever on the controls about 1/4 - 1/3 up.
3) Turn key to START while pushing in on the key. This is what activates the choke).
4_ When the engine fires release the key and let the engine fast idle (not racing) for a bit. Then lower the fast idle lever to the idle positon
5) If the engine begins to bog down and wants to the die, push in on the key momentarily to give an extra shot of fuel.. Do not turn the key to start to do this. Just push in on the key.

An original 1968 model 55 electric shift control box did not have a ----PUSH THE KEY IN -----Choke feature.-----There is a separate choke switch.
