Re: Hi From Arizona a Few Questions

I'd give my left....well.....to live in Arizona, god I hate this forsaken winter paradise we call Canada and I call my personal hell. Wish I didn`t make so much money though.

That said, solo launching can be easy, and it can be a nightmare. Once you get the hang of the boat and it's size it will be a no brainer. I started with a little 14' fiberglass wreck of a boat and learned the basics with that. My current boat is no harder, just heavier to muscle around as it's a bit cold blooded, so I can't wait for it to warm up before powering off the trailer. Like I say, you learn the quirks of your boat pretty quick when solo. Pick slow quiet days at the launch for your first few attempts...and good luck you lucky bastard!

Lucky Bastard Hee Hee. I love AZ heat and all. Hey I have AC and a Swimming Pool. Summer life in AZ is Great and too add a boat into the mix life will even better. Oh Travel 90 minutes north and you get into the mountains for cooler weather.

Thanks IAN for your thoughts.

The road getting into canyon has a lot of twists and turns, but no problem. To be honest, once you get used to towing the boat, you'll find people in their cars going slower than you since they are site seeing. The last 5 miles of it before the lake is slow, mostly 25mph. I also recommend going to the 2nd ramp, right past the marina, less traffic and right next to a very nice section of beach, grass and trees. My kids love playing along there. If you anchor over by the bridges usually get a nice mix of people anchoring and swimming hanging out without being over the top.

I think before I attempt Canyon lake as a newbee I will go take a visit and see how the Road and Boat launching conditions are.

My tow vehicle will be a Ford 250 V10 4 x 4 Long Bed.

No practice runs needed, you'll see its not bad at all. My first time towing and with a boat was there, had no problems at all. Just go for it and you'll surprise yourself.

The good thing is I have a 27ft Travel Trailer so I'm good at backing things into tight places.

Thanks Dizzy1.

Oh then you'll be fine. I'll be out on Sunday so if I see a newbie on the ramps I'll know who it is. lol. Just remember the drain plug, I've seen a few slowly sinking right after they leave the ramps. Don't be one of those people. haha

Good luck.
