I rebuilt a 9.8 mercury outboard when I was rebuilding the carb I see a threaded hole in the main jet where the bowl goes over, right above the screw that holds the bowl on.
Does anyone know if there is a screw that goes there to restrict or ajust the flow of gas, the motor runs but will not rev at full idol it just runs rough and I get exsess gas comeing out of the throat. If anyone knows anything abou this screw can please let me know, thanks much steve,

Sonny lad......You arent asking the question correctly....Your question should be..."I have a model number carb from a model type engine and need a diagram of the carb" . With this you can determine what goes where because there are a zillion screws in the boat world....

Agreed. My two cents...

Have your serial number handy and go to the Crowley Marine or West Marine web site. I tend to use Crowley a lot. Use their parts catalog and look up your model motor. This will take you to a list of exploded views and parts diagrams. You should be able to look up your carb in this diagram and determine whether there is any sort of adjustment screw that's meant to be there. Hope this helps.
