Hidden repower costs

I'm looking into the costs of repowering a 19' boat with a 1987 200 hp Yamaha.<br /><br />The plan is to install the motor on the boat, get everything adjusted right, maybe run it a few times and sell the whole rig for a profit.<br /><br />Being I'm buying with resale in mind, I want to spend as little money as I can putting the motor on. The motor comes with all controls and gauges, the motor is off a 27' center console that was run with another 200 hp Yammy.<br /><br />I want to do all the work myself. I have access to a lift to get the motor on the transom, and the boat is already rigged with cable steering.<br /><br />How much should I expect to pay for all the odds and ends to get it the controls set up?<br /><br />What else should I be taking into consideration before jumping into this?

Ryan.. Is it oil injected, or has the oil injection already been done away with? Might need an oil tank and hose...<br /><br />Control cables.. $60-$70<br />S/S bolts, nuts (get ny-locks), and washers.. $15-$20<br />Sealant for the bolt holes.. $5<br />Might need a steering arm?.. $who knows<br />.<br />.<br />.<br />.<br />.<br />.<br />.<br />A service manual...

Fuel line connectors ??<br />Battery?<br />Wiring for gauges.<br />Water pump and anything else to get the moter into reliable running condition. fuel filter/water separater.<br /><br />Stiches for smashed left index finger, no wait, that would be me if I did this.

If you want to run the new wiring that came with the gauge/throttle setup (i.e. rip out all the old stuff and start fresh since you got it all as part of the package), check out how the wiring is run - some builders assume it will never be replaced and put turns in tubes and other things that make it difficult to pull wiring (normally you would use the old wiring to pull the new stuff through). Some times there is electrical tape that has become stuck in the rigging tubes and makes the whole job a real mess, particularly if they put 2" of wire in a 1" diameter tube!<br /><br />Conversely if you use the existing wiring, make sure you can match it up and that you have the right number of proper gauge wires.
