I have an opportunity to get a NIB hidea for $700. I searched the history and found about 4 threads about these motors. Who's using and what is your feedback?

This thing is still sitting in the box....

Probably no feedback because none of the members use one. You may be the guinea pig.

With a list price of $2400, why only $700?

We will be able to answer a Johnson question or two....Maybe. :D

The few stories we hear in the forum about the knock-offs made in China usually don't have happy endings. Even finding normal maintenance parts can be a nightmare and forget about warranty work. For a few bucks more on a new motor, a name brand is the way to go. And plenty of good used choices right here at home.
